There is a legend that speaks of a Forest, ancient and wise, hidden from humans, protected by mountains. Only the trusted may enter. To find your way from beyond the Wandering Ridge is rare, through mist and pitfalls, past sparkling gems, around false paths, with a glimmer of hope to light your way. Trust your toes. They know more than you think.
Be ready for the riddle, as well, your key to the Forest. It won’t be asked outright, in words. Perhaps it is a choice of paths. Perhaps it is stopping to watch bees in a sunbeam. It asks, are you ready?
Once you answer yes, the way begins to clear. The hills may remain tall, the river wide, but your steps become more sure. You trust your toes more and more. Listen to the song of the Forest. It calls you onward. The moss grows thick and pungent, rich loamy earth whispers its secrets. Trees grow older here, their vast trunks blue with lichen. Ferns brush your legs. The lilting silvery song of a hermit thrush solidifies the tranquility. Mirror-like pools of water collect among the roots of the trees.
This is a place that honors cycles over schedules, the lessons of the seasons, seed to seedling, bloom to abundance, harvest to hibernation, the empty pause between breaths and return to fullness. It is a collection of dreams, plans, and ruminations. It is a love song to the natural world, a desire to blend ancient wisdom with science, art, healing, and hope.
You’ve found yourself in Mosswood Forest, through kindness and curiosity, and we are overjoyed that you are here. Moss, trees, ferns, and hermit thrush all welcome you with open branches, fronds, and wings. Together, our song is stronger.
Rest. Rejuvenate. Remember. In this forest, we spend time with memories. The magic of the Forest allows us to bottle up aromas, to paint scenes with scents and that often evoke memories. We mix these scents into candles and soaps. When their scents are released, so are the memories. For the connection between scent and memory is powerful indeed.
Sometimes memories are heavy to carry. Sometimes they’re prickly to touch. Sometimes we love them, and grieve them. Here in Mosswood Forest, we do not shy away from difficult memories. Our candles are generally more lighthearted, but here you will find a safe space to sit with your heavier memories, to search for their roots, to heal. To find new ways of being and belonging.
Disclaimer: We will always advocate for professional help with particularly difficult memories, moments, and head spaces. We offer stories and meditations. We appreciate the power of medications and the wide variety of therapies available these days and into the future.
Welcome to Mosswood Forest.
Still a seed, but the growing ground is fertile.
Thank you for growing with us. With me. I wish you all the best.
Elena Bozzi Ardagna began creating Mosswood Forest as a space to share stories, celebrate nature, and connect love-minded people (and trees).
